Codex Full Setup Guide

First go to the official LanoX.ai platform and prepare your account, balance, and API Key.

After signing in, prepare balance and API Key in the console.

(I) API Key Generation

Before connecting Codex, complete account registration, balance crediting, and API Key creation. Copy the API Key from the API Key management page after creation.

1. Register an account

Open LanoX.ai, register an account, and set your email and password.

After registration, return to the login page and sign in.

Register with your email, password, and email verification code.

Return to the sign-in page after registration.

2. Redeem code crediting

If you received a redeem code, open Recharge from the sidebar and select Redeem code.

Enter the redeem code, click Redeem now, and review the credited amount.

Important

After the code is validated, click Confirm redemption to credit the amount to the current account.

Open Recharge and select Redeem code.

Enter the redeem code and click Redeem now.

Review the amount, then click Confirm redemption.

3. Generate API Key

Click Create API Key on the home page, or open API Key from the sidebar.

On the API Key page, click Create API Key, enter a key name, and click Confirm. After creation, click Copy key from the list.

Security reminder

Do not leak your API Key, otherwise others may use your account balance.

Click Create API Key on the dashboard, or open API Key from the sidebar.

Click Create API Key on the API Key management page.

Enter a key name, then click Confirm.

Click Copy key from the API Key list after creation.

(II) Codex and CC Switch Download

Install Codex for your operating system. If you use CC Switch, install it before continuing.

1. Windows users

Open the Microsoft Store on Windows and search for ChatGPT.

Select the ChatGPT app published by OpenAI. After installation, click Open.

Search for ChatGPT.

2. Mac users

Choose the installer based on your Mac chip type, or open the official download page.

3. Install CC Switch

Open the CC Switch official download page. The site recommends an installer for your current system.

Choose .dmg on macOS or .msi on Windows, then select x64 or ARM64 for your device.

macOS users choose the DMG package for their chip architecture.

Windows users choose the MSI package for their system architecture.

(III) Codex Access Configuration

Before connecting, confirm Codex is installed, you have a Lanox API Key, and CC Switch is installed.

Precondition

Confirm before setup

  • Codex has been installed.
  • You have a Lanox API Key.
  • Base URL: https://api.lanox.ai/v1.
  • Both Windows and Mac users configure Codex through CC Switch.
  • Install CC Switch before using that method.

1.1 CC Switch configuration

Both Windows and Mac users can add the Lanox provider through CC Switch.

Open CC Switch, enter the Codex/OpenAI page, then click the orange plus button to add a provider.

Use this endpoint and protocol

  • Provider name: lanox
  • API Key: paste the key without spaces or line breaks.
  • API Endpoint: https://api.lanox.ai/v1
  • Enable remote compaction.
  • Upstream format: Responses (native), not Chat Completions.

Select the Codex/OpenAI icon first, then click the orange plus button.

Enter lanox, the API Key, and https://api.lanox.ai/v1.

Step 3: select Enable remote compaction.

Step 4: expand Advanced Options, select Responses (native), click Fetch Models, and save.

1.2 Usage Query Configuration (Optional)

If you want CC Switch to display the balance, configure usage query with the steps below.

Click the Configure usage query icon on the lanox provider card.

Enable the Enable usage query switch.

Click Save config.

Step 1: click the Configure usage query icon on the lanox provider card.

Step 2: enable the Enable usage query switch.

Step 3: click Save config.

(IV) Codex Model Update

CC Switch users should click Fetch Models again in Advanced Options and save. The commands below are for original local provider users.

Ask Codex to run it

Copy the prompt for your system and send it to Codex. Restart Codex after the command finishes.

Mac command
